As thousands of students across Ireland gear up for the Leaving Cert exams, mental health charity Turn2Me is offering support to help students manage stress and stay focused during this challenging time.
Turn2Me is hosting two free online support groups for Leaving Cert students on 22nd and 29th May at 6pm on Turn2Me.ie.
These groups are designed to provide a safe space to talk, share concerns, and get guidance from mental health professionals.
The CEO of Turn2Me is Fiona O'Malley, from Tullamore, a regular columnist with the Tullamore Tribune and Midland Tribune.

To help students prepare effectively and maintain their well-being, Turn2Me is sharing six essential tips:
1. Make a Realistic Study Plan
Break your revision into manageable chunks and set achievable goals for each day. Stick to a schedule that balances study and rest and avoids last-minute cramming.
2. Take Regular Breaks
The brain needs time to absorb information. Schedule regular breaks, for example, 45 minutes of study followed by a 5-minute break, to stay fresh and focused.
3. Prioritise Sleep
Sleep is essential for memory retention and mental clarity. Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep each night and avoid screens before bedtime.
4. Eat Well and Stay Hydrated
Fuel your body and brain with nutritious foods, and drink plenty of water. Avoid excessive caffeine or sugary snacks which can lead to energy crashes. Cut out coffee after 2pm for a better sleep.
5. Practice Relaxation Techniques
Deep breathing, mindfulness, and short walks can help reduce anxiety. Even a few minutes a day can make a big difference.
6. Talk to Someone
Don’t bottle up your stress. Talk to friends, family, teachers, or a mental health professional. You can also join Turn2Me’s free online support groups to speak with others going through the same experience.
