Clara man honoured with the IACP Midlands Regional Award

Ray Henry from Clara has been honoured for his contributions to counselling and psychotherapy

Raymond Henry of Clara, County Offaly has been honoured with the Midlands Regional Award by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy at its 10th Annual Conference.

The IACP Regional Awards recognise an IACP accredited member who has made a notable contribution to the profession of counselling and psychotherapy in their local community and region.

Mr Henry has been an active IACP member and leader in the organisation for 27 years, his lasting contributions continue to have meaningful impact on the profession.

Mr Henry’s volunteer experience includes serving as Cathaoirleach twice, from 2010 to 2012 and from 2017 to 2020. He was also one of the founding members of the Midlands Regional Committee which was the first regional committee to be formed within the IACP.

In addition he volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors, on the Supervisor Accreditation

Working Group, Media Panel, and the Registers and Strategy Sub Group. Chief Executive Officer Lisa Molloy commented: ''I would like congratulate Ray Henry our Midlands Regional Award honouree and acknowledge his outstanding contributions to his community and the counselling/psychotherapy profession. I had the pleasure of working closely with Ray during his time as Cathaoirleach, Company Secretary, and on the Board of Directors, he has given so generously of his time volunteering with the IACP over many years. He has always been a guiding and influential member, dedicated to his colleagues and an advocate promoting the benefits of therapy.''

Regarding his work in the Midlands Region, Raymond Henry commented. ''I would like to thank everyone involved in my nomination; I am delighted and humbled to receive the Midlands Regional Award. It has been a joy and privilege to volunteer alongside my colleagues in the IACP to further and promote the counselling and psychotherapy profession. I am most grateful for being recognised by my peers and for the support of the IACP.''

The annual awards ceremony was held at the IACP’s 10th annual conference on the 12th April at the Maryborough Hotel, Cork.
