The highlight of the trip was learning more about the Pitch Drop Experiment — a fascinating long-term study that tracks the flow of pitch, a substance that appears solid but is actually a slow-moving liquid.
Earlier this year, Physics Teacher Ms Flynn applied to take part in the Pitch Drop Experiment, and the school was thrilled to be selected as the Offaly representative.
One school was selected from every county. Ms Flynn's students set the experiment up in school. Every school in Ireland set their experiment up at the same time and recorded the length of the pitch at the same day and time every week until it dropped.

The experiment in Tullamore College was the first to drop, and students have continued to observe it ever since.
It has been a thoroughly enjoyable and educational experience that sparked curiosity and interest in the world of physics.
Many thanks to Ms Flynn for setting up and guiding the students through this famous experiment.
