Browsers giving users a warning that the connection is not private.
PEOPLE trying to access the Offaly County Council website at the moment are unable to do so.
There is an issue with the secure certificate authentication on the Offaly.ie website with browsers giving users a warning that the connection is not private.
This is affecting all Offaly.ie services including Offaly libraries and their online facilities.
Offaly.ie say normally it uses ''encryption to protect your information. When chrome tried to connect to www.offaly.ie this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be www.offaly.ie or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.
You cannot visit www.offaly.ie right now because the website uses HSTS.Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later,'' the message reads.
