REMEMBER those long, hazy days of the summer holidays and the fun-filled Saturday nights at the Harriers in Tullamore.

Well now people have a chance to relive their youthful experiences at a special fund-raising night for Accessible Counselling Tullamore.

The “Relive the Harriers Experience” takes place in the Phoenix, O'Connor Square, Tullamore on August 26 next.

The night will feature top DJs including Tony Christie, John Cusack, Neil Murphy and Paul Fox and a host of other attractions.

“It's an end of Summer event. We have all experienced going to an end of holidays disco before we went back to school or college and we mightn't get out again until the mid-term,” explained organiser John Cusack.

The event was officially launched at a reception in the Phoenix on Friday night last.

All proceeds from the fund-raiser go to Accessible Counselling Tullamore (ACT), the mental health charity founded by the late James O'Connor.

Tickets for the experience are €15 on the door or you can buy an early bird ticket at the reduced price of €10 online. Full details on the event's Facebook page.

Accessible Counselling Tullamore (ACT) is a community counselling centre based at the town's Main St.

The purpose of ACT is to pioneer a sustainable model of community-based counselling and psychotherapy services that will be accessible to all.

Their purpose-built counselling centre was designed to create a safe and confidential space for professional counselling in a comfortable atmosphere.

Mental health is something that affects each one of us throughout our life. There are times when we may feel overwhelmed and may find ourselves in need of help to address problems that are causing us emotional distress.

At ACT, their team of qualified, professional counsellors and psychotherapists will offer a supportive environment, where clients can talk about their issues without fear of judgement.

They believe their service will address a huge need in our community, and will provide a safe space, where a client will be enabled to explore their issues in a confidential setting.

Their accessible and timely service will allow clients the opportunity to address their difficulties and return to normal well-being.

ACT aims to positively impact the lives of those suffering with mental health issues, along with their families and the community as a whole.
