Lough Rynn in Leitrim was the venue for the National junior 1k Rowing championships recently and it proved a happy hunting ground for Offaly rowing club with two gold medals secured over the two day event.
Caden Coleman got the ball rolling on Saturday by storming to victory in the under 14 singles fending off stiff competition from a number of top class entries.
Fast forward to Saturday afternoon and there was more single success with Finn Lowry leading from pillar to post claim top spot in the under 13 category.
The lads capped off a hugely successful season with their wins with the long evenings and early mornings on the canal in Tullamore paying off.
It was a strong showing from the club over the course of the two days with Daniel Lambe putting in a super performance to take third in his under 15 singles race.
David Mooney also rowed brilliantly in his first ever singles race coming home in fourth place in the under 14 singles.
Anna Walsh also did the club proud in the women's u14 singles on Sunday as she battled tough conditions as the wind swept to finish fifth.
There was also action in the doubles and quad categories with the gold winning duo of Caden Coleman and Finn Lowry teaming up in the under 14 doubles to finish in a dead heat for second place with the famed Skibbereen club.
David Mooney and Ben O’Grady also took part in the u14 doubles and despite been handed a tough draw, battled hard to take fifth place in their race.

In the quad races, the club had Finn Lowry, Caden Coleman, David Mooney and Ben O’Grady team up in the under 14 quad while Daniel Lambe, Caden Coleman, Finn Lowry and David Mooney took to the water in the under 15 division. Both had strong showings with a sixth place in the under 14 and a highly commendable third in the under 15 with three of the four racing above their age grade.
