How we rated all the songs and performances in the first semi-final of Eurovision

Let's be honest, whether we admit it or not, we all secretly love Eurovision. Whether it be the Irish wins or the unforgettable performances over the years, we all have our own favourites. 

This year's Eurovision is taking place in Switzerland and the first semi-final took place on Tuesday night. Here's how I rated each of the songs out of ten with a quick comment for good measure!

Iceland - 6.6/10 (fun I like the energy, Iceland’s Jedward)
Poland - 4.2/10 (very generic for Eurovision however cool dance break)
Slovenia - 5/10 (I don’t love sad songs in general, this was boring sorry , nice sentiment)
Estonia - 4/10 (I love weird Eurovision, but this felt like rage bait for Italians)
Spain - 6.8/10 (I love that Spain keeps sending powerful women, really good performance, I like the song but don’t 'love')
Ukraine -  4.4 /10 (cool visuals and costumes, song isn’t my cup of tea)
Sweden - 8.4/10 (now THIS is fun Eurovision done right, but if Sweden win again I’ll lose it)
Portugal - 7.2/10 (Portuguese Artic Monkeys, a vibe actually, enjoyable)
Norway - 7.6/10 (attitude!!!! song performance worked really well together)
Belgium - 3/10 (sorry not for me, vocals too were a bit meh but interesting staging)
Italy -  8/10 (an ear cleanser, unsettling and refreshing, all in one )
Azerbaijan - 3.8/10 (kind of awkward or something, I don't know, not really bad)
San Marino -  5/10 (had potential in the chorus but underwhelming overall)
Albania -  2.7/10 (really not doing what they think it’s doing, really boring)
Netherlands - 5.2/10 (song is very repetitive and doesn’t build much, but the singer’s stage presence was charming)
Croatia - 3/10 (em 'take a bite of my poison cake'.... need I say more)
Switzerland 6.2/10 (a pretty French ballad... pleasant but not too exciting)
Cyprus 2/10 (the beat isn’t bad but the lyrics sound like they were written by someone who doesn’t speak English)
