RIP Billy O' Grady
Tributes have poured in for a young man who tragically died in a single vehicle collision in Cork.
Gardai in Cork said a fatal single vehicle road traffic collision occurred at 6:50 am this morning on Wednesday 20th August 2025 on the M8 (J18) road Southbound, Upper Riverstown, Glanmire, Co. Cork.
Billy O'Grady was from Pitch View, Shanballymore in Cork and passed away peacefully in Cork University Hospital on August 20th 2025 surrounded by his loving family following the road traffic accident.
He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his heart broken parents, brothers and sister, his grandparents Frankie and Reenie Butler, uncles; Jerry, Daniel, James, Keith and Nathan, niece Ava, his partner Chloe, Jordan's partner Laura, gran uncles, gran aunts, extended family, relatives, kind neighbours and a large circle of friends.
The O' Grady family gave a special word of thanks to all those that helped and supported both Billy and his family including the First Responders and Ambulance crew, the Fire Brigade, An Garda Síochána in particular Guard Vincent Geurin and Guard Eric Stafford, the doctors, nurses and staff of A&E and ICU in Cork University Hospital.

The support, compassion and empathy shown to the family was greatly appreciated.
In a tribute post on Facebook, St Dominic's GAA club said: "Hello everyone, Today we learned with great sadness the heartbreaking news that we’ve lost one of our former players, Billy O’Grady, in a tragic accident. This is a terrible shock for all of us. Billy was more than just a player; he was a friend and a vital part of our club family. We will truly miss his presence and his dedication. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time".
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie and social media for the young man, with one mourner writing,
"What a sad end to a promising young life...whole life ahead of him..... so heartbreaking, condolences to all the family at this tragic time".
