The Irish community is in shock today following the news of the sudden death in Australia of 23 year old Marie Claire Rogers.
The Louth native and Naomh Fionnbarra & St Anne's GFG football player, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, following a short illness, while on a holiday in Australia to visit her sister.
The recently qualified nurse had arrived in Australia just several days previously, and it is understood her parents had been en route to Australia before she passed away.
The Togher and Annagassan community is in shock following her passing. Naomh Fionnbarra & St Anne's GFG said on social media:
"Our club and community are beyond shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of our cherished club member and friend, Marie Claire Rogers in Sydney, Australia.
"As her many friends, team-mates, and colleagues come to terms with the devastating news, we offer our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the extended Rogers and Osborne families both at home and abroad.
“ As a mark of respect to Marie Claire and her family, all club activities are suspended until 12noon on Wednesday.
"Marie Claire’s passing has brought a wave of sorrow and grief across the community. Offers and messages of support have been pouring in and are greatly appreciated."

An evening in remembrance of Marie Claire will take place at the Naomh Fionnbarra & St Anne's GFG clubrooms this evening at 7.30pm for the Togher community and for all those who knew her.
The club says members of the public are welcome to walk the track, have a cup of tea, and to bring along a candle, flowers, photograph or memento in memory of a wonderful player, daughter, sister, and friend taken from us far too soon.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support travel costs for her family and boyfriend as they accompany Marie Claire on her final journey home to Ireland, with over €47,000 raised so far.
