'There's no telling what this person might do' - Daniel O'Donnell warns fans about scammer

Daniel O'Donnell is warning fans against interacting with a scammer who has reportedly been impersonating the beloved Irish singer.

Daniel issued the warning on September 20 following the passing of his mother-in-law, Marion, whose death he announced in a post on his official Facebook page.

Although Daniel warned of one particular scammer, up to four separate pages with some form of the name 'Daniel O'Donnell' can be seen commenting on the post seeking Friend Requests and direct messages from fans.

One stated, "Hi, thanks for your kind words and wishes on my page, kindly send me a friend request thanks" while another called 'Daniel O'Donnell page' commented, "Thank you dear send me a direct message if you love."

Another called 'Daniel o Donnell' replied to multiple comments, stating, "Hello I'm sorry for the infringement on your privacy. I like the contents you share on your timeline. I sent you a friend request but it didn’t work. If you don't mind, can you please send me a friend request? I’d like to correspond further with you and hopefully get to know each other better as friends."

Addressing the issue in a video posted on social media, the real Daniel said, "I just want to thank all of you who have messaged us since Marion's passing. I want to keep you aware. Under the post there is somebody set up a fake page and is answering messages pretending that it's me, and I just want to let you know I have not answered or messaged any of you back and I don't want you to interact with this person in any way.

"It is a fake page and there's no telling what this person might do as regards scamming if you get involved in messaging them.

"Thank you very much again for your messages at this very difficult time for the family at Marion's passing.

"Thank you and God bless."
