Funding boost for North Tipperary community projects

The funding boost comes through the 2025 CLÁR Programme

The Ireland Funds invites Louth organisations to apply for Heart of the Community Fund 2022

North Tipperary's Dáil representatives have welcomed a significant funding allocation for several local community projects announced this week.

North Tipperary TDs Michael Lowry and Ryan O'Meara have welcomed a significant package of community investment announced by Minister Dara Calleary, confirming over €420,000 in funding for a series of important local initiatives across Tipperary and Kilkenny.

“This funding brings real momentum to community-led development,” Deputy Lowry said.

“Each of these projects represents the determination of local volunteers, clubs, and organisations to strengthen their area. The announcement gives their work the support it deserves,” he said.

The funding will support vital improvements across Tipperary North, including:

Kilruane, Nenagh – Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA and Camogie Club: Carpark surfacing and footpath replacement – €65,000.

Rearcross – Rearcross FC: Lighting upgrades – €50,724.

Knock, Roscrea – Knock Community Centre Committee: Upgrade works at Knock Community Centre – €63,074.

Gortnahoe – Gortnahoe Community Playschool: Sensory garden – €8,835.

Drombane – Drombane Community Centre: Upgrade works at Drombane Community Centre – €64,347.

Ballingarry – Knockshegowna GAA Community Centre: €39,867 for toilet upgrades at the Knockshegowna Community Centre..

Deputy Ryan O’Meara said: "This funding will make a real difference in people’s lives, helping to improve local facilities, create safer and more accessible spaces, and bring communities closer together.

“It helps us build strong, resilient, and vibrant communities where families can thrive, young people can grow and stay close to home, and local clubs and schools can continue to flourish.

"Initiatives like this demonstrate the real impact that can be achieved when communities, local representatives, and government work together to deliver positive, lasting change.

“I want to sincerely thank Minister Calleary for his work in making this funding possible and for his collaboration with my colleagues and me to bring these projects across the line."

“The announcement, over €14 million has now been allocated under the CLÁR Programme in 2025, the highest annual funding since the scheme was reintroduced in 2016”, Deputy O'Meara said.

Deputy Lowry added: “These organisations are the heartbeat of their communities. This investment will have a lasting social impact, improving facilities, supporting participation, and ensuring communities continue to thrive.”

He concluded by thanking Minister Calleary for recognising the value of local, grassroots projects and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for continued investment in Tipperary’s communities.
