North Tipperary Development Company has received funding for a new vehicle to ensure the Meals On Wheels initiative can continue.

Fianna Fáil TD Ryan O'Meara has welcomed funding of €27,931 for a new vehicle for North Tipperary Development Company’s (NTDC) Meals on Wheels, saying it will provide a vital service for local people.

Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary, today announced €1.7 million in funding for 32 community vehicles nationwide under the CLÁR Programme.

Welcoming the announcement, Deputy O'Meara said the investment will make a significant difference for local communities.

“I am delighted to welcome funding of €27,931 under the CLÁR Programme for NTDC. Community vehicles are essential for ensuring people can access their essential needs. This funding will make a real difference to those who rely on meals on wheels in North Tipperary.”

Deputy Ryan O'Meara highlighted that the Clár funding supports vital groups such as first responders, meals on wheels, and search and rescue organisations.

“NTDC’s Meals on Wheels service plays an exceptionally important role in our communities. This funding will help them continue their vital work”, he said.

Deputy O'Meara emphasised the importance of accessibility and independence.

“Community vehicles are crucial for many people, providing greater mobility, independence, and access to essential services. This investment is most welcome.

Deputy O'Meara concluded by saying: “Finally, I want to thank my colleague, Minister Dara Calleary, for securing this funding. It will have a hugely positive impact on communities across the country, delivering essential services where they are needed most.”
