Congratulations to the school community at St Brendan's PS in Birr on being successful on being awarded the school's 6th An Taisce Green flag 2024/2025 - (Global citizenship, litter and waste).
Well done to the Green School committee 2024-2025 led by Ms Ciara Collins on their great work this year.
A school delegation will travel to Raddisson Hotel Athlone this week to be awarded the flag. The committee hope to have a flag-raising celebration at the school before the holidays too.
Grandparents And Families Day 2025
Grandparents and families day was a huge success once again at St Brendan’s PS in Birr!
The school Hall was packed out as grandparents and families joined them from 2nd and 4th classes. The boys performed some tunes and songs on stage and all enjoyed tea and cakes! Thanks to the teachers and support staff involved in preparing the boys for the rousing renditions of their songs along with Ms Killeen for the gorgeous accompanying music.

One of the many highlights were all the boys from 2nd class who belted out the Offaly Rover and Amhran na bhFiann. These are important songs that every young person in Offaly should know and sing with pride.
Thanks to HSCL Paula Carey for all her work setting up the room and to Lorraine in supporting that and baking too. Finally thanks to all who supported Catherine Walsh in the bucket fundraiser for CFI. Mr Crofton also noted those loved ones that could not be present and they keep them in their thoughts and prayers. Please see a selection of photographs on their school socials page.
