A Book of Condolences has been opened in Birr Garda Station for members of the public to sign in memory of Garda Kevin Flatley. The station's flag is also flying at half-mast as a mark of respect and mourning.

Garda Flatley tragically died on Sunday in a road collision, plunging the nation into shock and mourning. A Garda spokesperson in the Station said the Book of Condolences is open for all members of the public to sign if they wish.
Garda Flatley, (49), was killed when he was struck by a motorcycle near Lanestown in north Dublin. The father of two was conducting a routine speed check when the collision occurred.
The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and suffered life-threatening injuries, including to his head.
Garda Flatley was described as being “an absolute gentleman” who played a huge part in his local GAA club, “always lending a hand when he could”.
