Funding announced for Community Climate Engagement in Tipperary

Tipperary has been awarded €12,500 in grants under the Climate Actions Work Engagement fund.

The grants, ranging from €2,500 to €5,000 will be distributed to three community groups and organisations across the Premier County.

The funding supports groups or organisations working to bring people together and share information on Climate Action.

The fund is focused on climate engagement, awareness and communications. It aims to help communities to reach new audiences in their locality. It also provides opportunities for Community Groups to promote their work and spread the message of community-led climate action.

The fund is administered by Community Foundation Ireland, which, as part of its mission of Equality For All in Thriving Communities, has been empowering local groups, researchers, and advocates to take action on climate and nature since 2000.

The Foundation's work is informed by its 25 years of experience in partnering with 5,000 voluntary, community, and charitable groups as a philanthropic hub, a network that continues to grow.

"Tipperary people and visitors to the county will benefit from the activities generated through this fund", Independent TD, Deputy Michael Lowry said welcoming the news.

Fianna Fáil Tipperary Deputy, Ryan O’Meara also welcomed the funding and said: “Local community groups right across the country have become a vital tool in our arsenal to combat climate change.

“These communities are vital to allow us to raise more awareness on climate change, and they are essential for engaging more people and new audiences.

In Deputy O’Meara’s constituency, Cloughjordan Community Farm (€5,000) and Cloughjordan FC (€2,500) have been awarded €7,500 under the funding announced today.

“I am delighted that the people involved in Cloughjordan Community Farm and Cloughjordan FC in my own constituency have been awarded €7,500 under the Climate Actions Work Engagement fund.

“I want to commend all involved on their extremely hard work on this very important issue,  which is one of the greatest challenges in a generation. The important work they do doesn’t go unnoticed,” he concluded.
The Tipperary beneficiaries are:
€5000 for Cloughjordan Community Farm for widening the engagement of Cuan Beo as a local food, climate and nature hub in Cloughjordan, through collaborations with local schools and organisations, and outreach to people of different age groups, cultural backgrounds and abilities.
€2,500 for Cloughjordan Football Club to increase awareness of the Climate Actions they support at their CFC Community Facility.
€5000 for Suircan Environmental to offer a series of skill-sharing co-design sessions while scaling up their messaging and the efficiency of their operation.
