Following a number of enquiries after our successful Open Day earlier in the academic year, Cistercian College Roscrea will hold an additional Open Evening on Friday 28th March from 4 pm to 7 pm, to accommodate those who missed out.

While every day is an open day at CCR, this is an ideal opportunity to come and meet the team. The Open Evening is for next year’s incoming first years and those years where places are still available (contact our Director of Admissions, Mr. Seámus Hennessy, for more information).

CCR offers Day, 5-Day, and 7-Day Boarding options. Enrolment for both day and boarding at the College continues to grow; the current academic year has seen another increase in the overall student roll, with numbers in the current First Year the highest for some time.

The College prides itself on having day and boarding options to meet each family’s individual needs.

The College has a proud tradition of achieving top marks and helping students grow and excel academically.
Academic achievement and a positive study environment are the foundation of the College under the guidance of Acting Principal Miss Catherine Smyth and Acting Deputy Principal Mr. Jim McManus.

The achievements of our alumni are a testament to that tradition. The College’s pastoral care programme remains at the core of all that we do.

The Head of Boarding, Mr. Felix Ross, leads a dedicated team of Housemasters, acting in loco parentis for our boarding students.

The College has an extensive sports programme under our Director of Sport, Mr. Brendan McKeogh, with students competing internationally, nationally, provincially, and locally. Rugby is led by Mr. Mark Butler, Hurling by Mr. Tommy Dunne, Golf by Mr. Bobby King, along with a range of sports programmes in athletics, basketball, equestrian, swimming, soccer, and badminton.

Music is a huge part of life at Cistercian College, with a rich heritage led by Director of Music Mr. William Cullagh. Music is built around three key events: the annual musical “Opera”, the stunning Christmas Carol service in the Abbey, and the finale being the University Concert Hall in Limerick Arts Evening.

The College President, Mr. Colm Maloney, is looking forward to welcoming new and prospective students and parents.

“Cistercian College is a unique place to learn, develop, and grow. The open evening, led by our very proud current students, parents, and staff, will showcase the College, as well as providing refreshments for all guests in the College refectory, in keeping with the rich tradition of Cistercian hospitality. We look forward to welcoming all.”

For further information and to pre-register for the event, interested students and parents are invited to email the College Admissions team at admissions@ccr.ie or call (0505) 23344.
