Founder of the Roscrea Narcotics Anonymous group, James Gleeson, has organised Roscrea's first ever 'sober hike' which will see one of the town's most popular local hiking groups lead a trek into the Slieve Bloom mountains.

James first proposed the idea on social media and after receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from the local community he announced the hike is planned for this Sunday (March 9th) beginning in Kinnitty.

The 10km Sober Social Hike will be led by the very popular and experienced Roscrea Ramblers club, leaving Kinnitty Castle at 10am.

Free car parking is available and the Castle's coffee shop will be open from 9am.

Participants are asked to bring a bottle of water and appropriate footwear.

“This walk is for all - whether you're sober, sober curious, or just want to get out for some fresh air and a chat, so please join us”, James said.
