Tipperary house fire tragically claims lives of a father and son

Gardaí and emergency services remain at the scene of a house fire in Littleton, near Thurles, in which two men died during the early hours of this morning. 

The deceased are believed to be father and son aged in their 80's and 50's respectively.

Both are said to be well known to the local community, however their names have not been publicly released.

Speaking to the Tipperary Star today, local TD Ryan O'Meara said: “I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the family affected by this devastating news in Littleton. It really has shocked the community and my thoughts are with the people of Littleton and those bereaved at this time. A loss like this is so hard to comprehend, but especially at this time of year. May they rest in peace.”

The bodies of the deceased remain at the scene which is being preserved for technical examination.

Garda have said investigations as to the cause of the fire are now underway alongside their colleagues from the Tipperary Fire Service.
