ALERT: Storm Amy now threat to life as Red Warning issued for parts of Ireland
Storm Amy is now a threat to life as Met Eireann has issued as Status Red Warning for parts of Ireland. A Red Warning is a rare and very dangerous weather condition from intense meteorological phenomena.
Met Eireann has issued a Status Red Wind warning for Donegal from 4pm to 6pm today (Friday) and says that there will be extremely strong and gusty southwest winds. Impacts include fallen trees, damage to power lines, dangerous travelling conditions, structural damage and wave overtopping. People are being urged to take action to protect themselves and their property.
A number of other warnings for Storm Amy are also in place. There is a Status Orange Wind Warning for Clare, Donegal. Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo from 2pm to 10pm today.
A Status Yellow Wind Warning is in place for all of Ireland until midnight and a Status Yellow Rain Warning for Galway and Kerry remains in place until 3pm.
