Met Eireann is forecasting a big change in weather for Ireland this weekend with thunder in the forecast as temperatures are set to drop.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, the weather will turn much cooler than recently with a mix of sunshine and showers or longer spells of rain.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, mist and fog will clear on Saturday morning and while there will be some sunshine at times, it will become cloudier generally. Many areas will hold dry for a good part of the day, though a few showers are possible at any stage in southeastern and eastern coastal parts, while a band of rain and drizzle will start to move in from the west later in the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of 12 to 17 to 18 degrees with light to moderate southerly or variable breezes, gradually veering westerly, and becoming a little fresher at times in western coastal parts.

Any rain and drizzle will clear eastwards early on Saturday night leaving variable cloud and clear spells. Scattered showers will spread from the Atlantic overnight, affecting mainly western counties. Lowest temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees in light to moderate westerly breezes.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, scattered showers in the west will spread eastwards over the country on Sunday morning with sunny spells in between. There'll be a continued mix of sunshine and showers for the rest of the day. Some of the showers could turn heavy with hail and the chance of the odd rumble of thunder. It'll be a noticeably cooler day with highest temperatures of just 9 to 12 degrees in mostly moderate southwest to west winds, increasing fresh and gusty at times, especially in western and southern coastal parts.

There'll be a mix of cloud and clear spells on Sunday night, with showers becoming isolated and largely confined to western and southern coasts. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 6 degrees with winds decreasing light to moderate southerly, a little fresher by the west coast.

According to the latest Met Eireann weather forecast for Ireland, Monday will start out dry with sunshine for many, but scattered showers near Atlantic coasts will become fairly widespread by the afternoon. Again, some of the showers could be heavy and of hail with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Highest temperatures 9 to 12 degrees in mostly moderate, occasionally fresh and gusty southwest winds, which will ease mostly light later.

It will become mostly dry on Monday night with clear spells as showers become isolated and mainly confined to western coastal parts. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees with a touch of frost.
