Laois Gardaí are warning festivalgoers of scammers impersonating gardai.

They issued the advice after people pretending to be gardaí answered calls on lost or stolen phones and pretended to be gardai in order to get phone access and bank details.

“For those attending Electric Picnic we understand how important your phone is at this event.  If you have lost your phone please check at the Lost and Found, located at the Jimi Hendrix Campsite,” Gardaí said.

“Be aware that there have been incidents of criminals pretending to be Gardaí who are attempting to access your phone and bank accounts. An Garda Síochána  will never ask for your personal or bank details,” Gardaí advised.
