Annual Tractor Run in Offaly attracts a record entry this year

A section of the large crowd at the annual Brereton's Bar Tractor Run.

BRERETON'S Bar Annual Tractor Run was held on Sunday June 29th at Brereton's Bar Ballybritt. It was the most successful tractor run they had to date with over 260 vehicles registered.

To say the committee are overwhelmed would be a total understatement. They never predicted in a million years that so many would turn up to their little crossroads at the foot of the Slieve Bloom. Thanks so much to all the volunteers, local landowners, all the staff in Brereton's, their neighbours, sponsors, auctioneer Rock on Paddy, musicians Miriam & Michelle and The Groomsmen, DJ Liam Cleere, The Blackbull Threshing crew for their marquees, photographer Rose Mannion and you the general public for the outstanding support you showed them on Sunday June 29th.

In the early to mid morning they had a fear of the weather being against them but to be fair it did not stop their entrants from turning up to make it an amazing day. One the people of Ballybritt and surrounding areas will not forget.

The Cup winners

Best Modern: John O'Toole

Best Classic: Andrew Hogan

Best Vintage: John Grant

This year's beneficiaries are Coolderry Central School and Roscomroe National School. They will also be making a donation to Midlands Living Links. They had many volunteers on the day from both schools.

They are already planning our 2026 event and can not wait to make it the biggest tractor run in the midlands. It's the last Sunday in June so make no other plans.

Their annual presentation night will be held on Saturday august 16th in Brereton's from 9.30pm with music by Rock on Paddy.

Thanks again to everyone who contributed in any way to their fantastic day.
