Go ahead for new funeral parlour in centre of Tullamore
A new funeral parlour in the centre of Tullamore has been given the green light by Offaly County Council.
After initialling looking for further information after concerns were raised over parking in the area, the council has now given the go ahead to the plans with eight conditions attached.
PJ Lambe, David Lambe and Edel Kenny lodged the planning application to change the use of an existing commercial unit on Main Street, Tullamore into a funeral parlour but those plans are on hold as Offaly County Council has sought further information before making a decision.
The premises is currently empty and the plans for the funeral parlour also include a family bereavement room.
Details of conditions attached are not yet available.

In a letter previously seeking further information, Offaly County Council asked for a revised front elevation for the building and a traffic and pedestrian management plan to ensure pedestrian safety. The local authority also sought clarification on how the applicant propose to deal with parking and arrival and departure during operation.
Offaly County Council also raised concerns over how the development complies with car parking requirements.
One submission on the application also raised concerns over parking at the proposed funeral parlour.
