Kildare woman prosecuted for stealing sandwich worth €3.50

A woman who stole a sandwich worth €3.50 was prosecuted at Naas District Court.

The woman who’s from a town in County Kildare and aged in her mid 30s was also prosecuted for stealing alcohol valued at €10  from the Londis store at Main Street, Clane on August 14, 2020.

Sgt Mary Meade told the court that the woman had 13 previous convictions, but none were for theft.

“It is sad that the State has to bring these charges,” commented Judge Desmond Zaidan, adding that the defendant was evidently desperate enough to take the item - because it was to be consumed rather than sold on.

The judge applied the Probation Act.
