Two men and two women accused of violent disorder at pub in the Midlands

Books of evidence were served on two men and two women who are accused of violent disorder at a pub in Portlaoise. 

Michael Joyce (28) and Margaret Joyce (24) of 133 Rathin, Ashe Road, Mullingar, Co Westmeath, Christy Nevin (24) of 7 Oak Park, Portlaoise, and Julie McDonagh (26) of 54 Boughlone Way, Bellingham, Portlaoise, are each charged with one count of violent disorder at The Welcome Inn, Market Square, Portlaoise on August 10, 2024.

Both male defendants also each face an additional single charge of assault causing harm at The Welcome Inn, Market Square, Portlaoise on August 10, 2024. 

Garda Lisa Murray gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on each of the four defendants at a sitting of Portlaoise District Court. 

Judge Susan Fay issued the standard alibi warning to each of the accused. They were each granted legal aid for one solicitor and one barrister. The four defendants were then each sent forward to the next sittings of Portlaoise Circuit Court beginning on June 18. Judge Fay remanded the four defendants on bail with conditions.
