The Silver River Study will be launched on Thursday
PROFESSOR John Feehan, on behalf of Kilcormac's Silver River Angling Club will formally launch "The Silver River Study" on this Thursday February 20th at 7pm.
The feasibility study was commissioned by the Angling Club supported by OLDC and Kilcormac Development Association (KDA). Informed by research and exploration over the course of a year, covering all seasons, Rory Dalton (ecologist and author), presents a suite of measures aimed at improving the ecology and amenity value of the river and the terrestrial environment.
The Silver River Study Steering committee would be honoured if people could join them for the unveiling of this important work, which aims to provide support and guidance to local communities and farming groups when implementing projects that secure the ecology of the Silver River for future generations whilst realising the potential amenity value.
The event will feature presentations from the author and the local angling club representatives who have extensive knowledge of the river. Local LAWPRO representatives will discuss community water quality projects and funding opportunities as well as the farming for water EIP. The KDA and projects team are facilitating this event which provides a perfect opportunity for discussion amongst local groups on the future vitality of the river.
The excellent hosting team at the KDA community centre will provide refreshments on arrival and following the presentations ensuring they are all fuelled for an evening of engaging discussion on driving initiatives for the river. Your presence would be greatly appreciated as they take the first steps toward commencing the recommendations of this important study for a better future for the Silver River for ours and generations to come.
