Aura Leisure Centre
THE swimming pool at the Aura Leisure Centre in Tullamore will be open next week.
Closed because of damage to the roof caused by Storm Eowyn, the pool will be back in operation on Monday, February 17, according to a post on the Aura Leisure Centre's social media page.
The announcement follows a post on February 7 which said a contractor had been secured to carry out the repairs: “The contractor is in the process of sourcing materials and our expectation is that they will be on site mid-next week to commence repair works but we are hoping to have them earlier if possible.
“All things going well, works should be completed by the end of next week. Then, allowing time to get our pool temperature back up to where it needs to be, our pool should be open again week commencing 17th February which is when all pool activities including swim lessons can re-commence.”
Previously Aura said all pool activities including swim lessons had to be cancelled: “The nature, extent and location of the damage which is almost the full length of the roof (100 feet) means that it will require a significant amount of work and time to repair.”
Pool users were asked to check their email or social media for updates.
