Roscrea Lions Club recently held two events supporting  Childhood Cancer Ireland.

On February 16 they held a very successful Table Quiz to raise funds and promote awareness  of this very worthwhile Charity.

President, Liam Spooner had the pleasure of presenting Fionnuala and Rebecca of Childhood Cancer Ireland a cheque for €1,240 at the recent Lions Convention in Killarney.

The second event saw the Roscrea Lions dedicate their entry in this year's Roscrea St Patrick's Day Parade to Childhood Cancer Ireland Awareness.

In addition to wearing Childhood Cancer Ireland tee shirts, they handed out  gold ribbons and pamphlets to the crowd.

“We would also like to thank Fionnuala  and Rebecca for providing us with banners for our float.

“It was a great fun occasion for all the members who, with their faces painted and wearing their tails, rocked along the streets of Roscrea to the sounds of 'The Lions Sleeps Tonight' and 'Roar like a Lion'.

“A major success on the day was the photo props of Lions which many children along the route were clambering  to have their photos taken in. Even the Master of Ceremonies of the Roscrea Parade on the  viewing platform had his picture taken.

“It was a brilliant day for showcasing Roscrea Lions Club but also adding awareness of Childhood Cancer Ireland to all those viewing.

“To top off the day, with pride, Roscrea Lions had the privilege of accepting the Cup for the best overall entry in the parade”, Roscrea Lions said.
