Gardaí have renewed an appeal for dashcam footage and witnesses to come forward after a man died following a crash in Offaly on Valentine's Day.

The man in his 40s was a passenger in a car that was in collision with an SUV on the R401 at Coolygagen, Co Offaly, close to the county's border with Kildare,on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at approximately 8.50am.

The man was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment for serious injuries but has since been pronounced dead, gardaí confirmed as they said they are still investigating the crash.

The female driver of the SUV, also aged in her 40s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment for serious injuries, believed to be non-life-threatening at the time.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R401 in the Coolygagen area, between 8am and 9am on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí," a statement read.
