Toilets in Lloyd Town park Tullamore to receive cash injection
A large sum is to be spent on a number of projects in the Tullamore Municipal District area, among them the toilets at Lloyd Town Park and the Tullamore 400 commemoration.
The €100,000 to be spent comes from the Tullamore Municipal District General allocation for 2022.
The largest amount of €35,000 will go towards upgrading the Lloyd town park toilets which are in a bad state of repair.
€20,000 will be spent on managing housing estates in the area in 2022.
A further €10,000 has been allocated to the Tullamore 400 celebrations.
€10,000 goes towards the holding of outdoor events.
€25,000 will go towards upgrading a footpath at Erry (Armstrong) Clara.
At the monthly meeting of Tullamore Municipal District, Councillor Sean O’Brien remarked that this was the third year the council had put money into the fund for toilets in the town park. ‘’I certainly hope we will get that project finished this year, it’s badly needed and it’s important we have proper up to date toilets.’’ he said.
Councillor Declan Harvey, agreed with Cllr O’Brien adding that the town park toilets were something he has been dealing with for quite a while. He said the Tullamore 400 needs to be clarified, regarding the events to be held.
Councillor Ken Smollen, asked if €10,000 was the entire budget for outdoor events and he asked how many will that cover.
Jean Ryan senior executive engineer with Offaly County Council said the council has received further funding from the local live performing scheme, however, she said it does require match funding. She added that there will be a ‘’programme of events for the whole county.''
The Municipal District Allocation for this year is €177,000. €100,000 is for larger projects such as those mentioned while €77,000 goes towards community grants.
