Rhode GAA Club took a trip down memory lane when they celebrated the golden and jubilees of some big championship wins last Saturday evening. There was a great turnout as the Rhode teams that won the Senior and U21 Football Championship in 1975 and junior football and hurling titles in 2000 were feted in Killeen's Pub. The 1975 teams featured some of the greats of Offaly football while the 2000 successes came during an era when Rhode emerged out of a long famine, before embarking on Offaly football's most prolonged, consistent run of excellence at senior level.
