Offaly driver Alex Dunne was back on the F2 podium despite a five second penalty he picked up during the race.

Driving in unfamiliar white colours following his split from the McClaren Junior Programme, Alex made his way through the field from fifth on the grid to earn a spot on the podium.

Heading into the pit stop in third, he picked up a five second penalty when his Roddin team released him into the path of another car in the pit lane and this looked like it could cost him but he drove a superb final stint to finish more than five seconds ahead of Arvid Linblad in fourth.

It was the second time Alex scored points over the weekend in Qatar as he also finished fifth in the sprint on Saturday.

While the Offaly driver is in fifth in the World Championship, the title is now out of reach as Leonardo Fornaroli finished second in the sprint race, a result good enough to earn him the 2025 FIA Formula 2 title.

The F2 season will wrap up next weekend in the United Arab Emirates at Yas Island
