Plans have been unveiled for big changes to a former nightclub in Offaly.

Melbas nightclub in Birr officially closed its doors for the last time earlier this year and it could now be set for a complete change of use.

Melbas is part of Dooleys Hotel in the centre of Birr and a planning application for the changes has been lodged with Offaly County Council.

Canbe Limited is applying for permission to change the former night club into additional guest accommodation with all internal alterations and site development works to complete the development.

Canbe, who also own the County Arms in Birr, bought Dooleys Hotel earlier this year.
