ALERT: Major oil spill in Offaly as council treating roads
Motorists are being warned of a major oil spill on a number of roads in Offaly.
Offaly County Council says there is an oil spill between Ferbane and Banagher, around a number of streets in Banagher and from Banagher to Lusmagh.
County Council staff are erecting warning signs in the affected areas and the roads are being treated.
Motorists are being advised to take care on the affected roads.
Spilled oil on roads forms a slippery layer, which can cause vehicles to lose grip and potentially lose control.
It is particularly dangerous during wet weather and can significantly increase the risk of an accident.
