Many in Tullamore are in shock following the passing of a popular local man. Ray Frankland passed away in Tullamore Hospital on October 17 after a short illness.

Ray was known for his sense of humour and friendliness, starting up conversations wherever he went.

As a decorator he was a perfectionist with a long list of regular clients and he also had talent as a creative painter and sketch artist.

His great love of music included playing the drums, piano and synthesiser and also recently learning to play bass guitar with which he performed live at the Esker Arts Centre earlier this year.

Originally from Liverpool, Ray lived in Killurin with his wife of 25 years, Fiona. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Ray's Funeral Service will take place in the Garden Chapel Mount Jerome Crematorium, Harolds Cross, Dublin on Wednesday, October 22 at 3pm.

Tributes to Ray have also been left on rip.ie

On person wrote, "We will always remember the chats and cups of tea before the start of the days painting, he was such fun and so very kind."
