Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal accident involving a quad bike on Achill Island

A motorcyclist was hospitalised in Tullamore with serious injuries after an accident on Saturday evening.

Gardaí attended the scene of a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 5:30pm on Saturday on Main Street, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath.

The motorcyclist, a male in his late 30s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Tullamore Hospital for treatment.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling through Rochfortbridge between 5:15pm and 5:45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
