An Offaly man who used a drug to control physical pain after suffering a hand injury said he has given up the drug at Tullamore District Court on Wednesday last.
Before the court was Ian Dunne with an address at 6 Canal View, Daingean.
Sgt Kearns, court presenter, told the court that on March 20, 2025, Gardaí executed a search warrant at the residence of the accused and found drugs valued at €160 in a plastic bag.

Sgt Kearns said he has 13 previous convictions and pleads guilty to the offence.
The defendant addressed Judge Andrew Cody in his defence and explained he had suffered a serious hand injury last year where he "cut the top of my finger off" and was using the drug to help ease the physical pain.

He said he no longer uses the drug and disposed of everything associated with the drug. He is currently not working and is scheduled for surgery on the hand injury in Dublin in February.
Judge Cody fined the defendant €300 with three months to pay.
