Road in Offaly to close for two weeks for bridge repairs
A road in Offaly is to close for two weeks for bridge repairs from next Monday, September 15.
Offaly County Council has given notice that the L-40202-1 road at the county boundary with Tipperary at Corraclevin will close.
Traffic travelling north will be diverted at Corraclevin, continuing towards Cloonaloughan on the L-40201-1 before turning right onto the L-4020-2, passing over Cloonaloughan Bridge, turning right again onto the L-4029-1, crossing the county boundary and railway line before keeping right onto the L-1059-6, continuing onto the R491, turning right towards Shinrone and proceeding 2km approximately and turning right onto L-5019.
Traffic travelling south will continue on the R491 from the junction with the L-5019 towards Cloghjordan for 2km approximately before turning left onto the L-1059-6, continuing over the railway line and county boundary before turning left onto the L-4020-2, passing over Cloonaloughan Bridge and turning left onto the L-40201-1 in Corraclevin.
Offaly County Council says that local access will be maintained either side of works but no through traffic will be permitted.
The road shall be closed for approximately two weeks from Monday, September 15. The road closure is necessary to facilitate works as part of the Bridge Rehabilitation Programme.
Offaly County Council says it regrets any inconvenience caused to road users.
