Offaly Gardaí issue advice to shop owners following burglaries

They said a number of incidents occurred in Portlaoise recently

Offaly Gardaí have issued a warning to shop owners following a number of burglaries.  

Although the incidents occurred in Portlaosie Gardaí said the advice is for all shop owners in Laois and Offaly. 

“Gardaí in Portlaoise have charged a male in connection with recent burglaries in the town centre. Investigations are continuing, and extra patrols are in place,” Gardaí said. 

They have asked the business community to: Keep tills clear of cash overnight and leave them open and visible; Secure valuable stock properly with good physical and electronic measures; Double-check alarms, locks, and shutters before closing.

Gardaí also asked people to report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 999.

“Our Crime Prevention Officer is available to offer confidential advice and guidance to business owners. Email LO.Crime@garda.ie should you need his assistance in this regard."
