Man in his 30s dies in single-vehicle crash in Offaly

Accident occurred before midnight on Monday at Ballina Cross outside Tullamore

ACCIDENT

A MAN in his 30s has died following a single-vehicle crash last night outside Tullamore.

The incident occurred shortly before midnight on Monday at Ballina Cross, Annaharvey, Tullamore.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was fatally injured. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

The body of the man was removed to the mortuary in the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore for a post-mortem examination.

The R420 between Geashill and Cloncollig Roundabout, Tullamore, has been closed for a technical examination by gardaí. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Tullamore garda station on 057 932 7600, the garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” a garda spokesperson said.
