A number of extremely popular Labubu toys were stolen from a shop in Banagher on Sunday afternoon last.

Gardai say that three youths entered the shop and stole five Labubus.

Labubus have become a worldwide phenomenon in recent months. It is a series of collectible plush toy monster elves.

According to Wikipedia, the toys feature stylised characters with exaggerated facial expressions and animal-like features. Labubu is the central figure in the series and is depicted with sharp teeth, large ears and a scruffy appearance, often accompanied by other characters in a similar style.

The toys were created by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung and are sold in blind boxes meaning people do not know which toy they are getting which adds to the appeal.
