Woman accused of assault tried to ''cool things down''
A woman who appeared in court on a summons for assaulting a woman at a filling station in Tullamore had tried to calm things down, the court heard.
Emily Evans (26) of Cluain Dara, Tullamore, was accused of the offence which took place at Apple Green Filling Station on Main Street in Tullamore on August 5, 2024.
In his evidence Sergeant Brendan Kearns said that when gardai spoke to the injured party she told them that two females had entered the shop and assaulted her.
Solicitor Aisling Maloney said that Ms Evans who had no previous convictions had become embroiled in a dispute when she followed her younger cousin into the shop where a quarrel had broken out between her cousin and the injured party. Ms Maloney said her client had gone in to 'cool things down'. She said the dispute between Ms Evans and the injured party had been over and back for years.

Ms Evans is training to be a dental nurse and there have been no difficulties since. She had brought €500 compensation with her to court, said her solicitor.
Judge Andrew Cody put the case back to June 11 for compensation of €600 to be paid to the injured party.
