Gardai in Offaly have appealed for help from the public after a hit and run.

A witness appeal was issued on Easter Sunday as part of an investigation by Tullamore-based into a suspected hit and run incident in Pollagh, Co. Offaly.

"Investigating Gardaí are particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage to assist the ongoing investigation.

"As part of follow-up operations in the area, two vehicles were seized today under Section 41 of the Road Traffic Act 1961," said gardai.

They say a BMW, which was directly involved in the incident, was seized for having no tax, no insurance, and no valid NCT.

Gardai said an Audi, not connected to the hit and run, was separately seized for being untaxed for 598 days.

Gardai added that both cars were also found to have defective tyres.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Tullamore Garda Station on 057 932 7600 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
