Gardai give update on missing Offaly man as search in Limerick concludes

Gardaí have concluded a search in Limerick for an Offaly man who went missing early in 2025.

Garda HQ confirmed to the Leinster Express / Laois Live that a search in a wetlands area of Limerick city concluded on Friday, April 18. However, a spokesperson was unable to say what results had been yielded as part of a missing persons investigation which began soon after Luke Price, aged 27, went missing on January 14.

Gardaí also declined to state what course the search might now take in efforts to locate the Geashill man who went missing after travelling to Limerick by train from Portlaoise in January.

It's known that Mr Price, a chef, then socialised for a time in Limerick and went to O'Curry Street with a friend. He left there at around  pm and went in the direction of the Dock Road, but has not been seen since.

It's understood that Gardaí worked with the Abbeyfeale Search and Rescue Service and Civil Defence on wetlands in the vicinity of the Condell Road, Limerick City. A dog search is helping in the search along the River Shannon. 

It's reported to have been initiated on Wednesday, April 16 on the back of CCTV footage of Mr Price’s last known movements.

The young man worked and lived in Ballyfin in Laois as a chef before he went missing. He was known in Portlaoise through is work and around Laois from being involved in the scouts.

The search was undertaken in the days after the missing man's mother, Pauline Price, posted a new appeal on social media three months after he went missing.

Mr Price is described as being around 1.82m tall with a slim build, auburn hair and blue eyes.  He was wearing a black coat, blue jeans and black boots when last seen.
