Portlaoise District Court

A man appeared in court recently accused of having drugs for sale or supply in Offaly.

James Brophy (49) of Lough, Portarlington, is accused of possession of cocaine valued at over €13,000 and possession of cocaine for sale or supply at Botley Lane, Portarlington, Offaly on October 11, 2023.

Detective Garda Neil Slevin said the defendant made no reply after he was charged. He said the case was to proceed on indictment and he had no objection to bail.

“We would be asking for six weeks for the book of evidence,” he said.

Judge Susan Fay remanded the defendant on bail to appear again before Portlaoise District Court on May 19 for a book of evidence.
