The fire in a bog area near Allenwood
This was the scene when a fire broke out in the Allenwood area in Kildare near the Offaly border.
The fire took place on bog ground off Station Road in the village on Thursday evening last week.
An Orange Alert / High Fire Risk Warning notice was in place nationwide during the recent dry spell and expired at 12 noon on Monday, April 14.
The Department of Agriculture had said: "Arising from current weather patterns, a high fire risk is deemed to exist in all areas where hazardous fuels, such as dead grasses and shrub fuels, exist.
"Fire behaviour and spread rates will be strongly influenced by increasingly dry fuel conditions, low humidity levels and light to moderate windspeeds."
Members of the public were urged not to cause or light fires in and around forests or open land, to dispose of smoking materials responsibly and not to attempt to intervene or fight fires
