Evidence heard at Tullamore District Court

PARKING a pick-up truck on a footpath during the Banagher Horse Fair resulted in a Co Wexford driver being put off the road for three months.

Tom Connors, Rocklands, Ballywilliam, New Ross, Wexford was not present at Tullamore District Court when a summons relating to an alleged parking offence was called.

Garda Stephen O'Hanlon, Portlaoise Garda Station, gave evidence that he was on patrol at the Banagher Horse Fair on Sunday, September 15 last year when he saw a 2021 Toyota Hilux and a trailer parked on a footway blocking pedestrian access.

Garda O'Hanlon said a fixed charge notice was issued to the registered driver of that vehicle but it was unpaid.

He told Tullamore District Court that Mr Connors had 14 previous convictions, all of which were for road traffic matters.

The last conviction dated from 2009 and was for failing to wear a seat belt.

Along with a three-month disqualification from driving, Judge Andrew Cody imposed a fine of €500 and gave Mr Connors three months to pay it.
