Emergency services attend scene after car enters Grand Canal in Offaly
A section of the Grand Canal is blocked in Offaly after a car entered the water at Pollagh on Sunday.
Gardaí attended the scene following report of a single vehicle road traffic collision, during which a car entered the Grand Canal at Pollagh. The accident occurred at approximately 9pm.
Gardai say no injuries were reported at the time.
According to Waterways Ireland, the Grand Canal at Pollagh, west of Tullamore, is currently blocked due to the vehicle entering the canal on Sunday, March 16.
Waterways Ireland says a recovery plan has been initiated, but removal of the vehicle may take several days.
Waterways Ireland thanks waterway users for their cooperation and understanding while this incident is being resolved.
