THE iconic Kinnitty Castle hotel has been sold to the Hanly Castle Hotel Group.

The news was broken this evening by Kinnitty based Dail Deputy, John Clendennen, who runs a pub, Giltrap's, in the picturesque village in the Slieve Blooms.

The development opens an exciting new chapter for the iconic Offaly landmark, which has been the venue for the weddings of celebrities such as Boyzone's Shane Lynch in 2007.

Speaking following news of the announcement, Deputy Clendennen said “Kinnitty Castle is a treasured asset in our local community, rich in history and renowned as a destination attracting both domestic and international visitors.

"The investment by the Hanly Castle Hotel Group is a significant boost for the local economy, tourism, and job creation in the area. I look forward to seeing their plans for the castle unfold and wish them every success as they embark on this new venture.”

Kinnitty Castle, nestled in the Slieve Bloom mountains, has long been a renowned wedding venue for the past number of decades, and the investment and development of Slieve Bloom Mountain Bike Trails will provides yet another opportunity to attract visitors to Offaly.
