A woman admitted abusing a worker in an Indian restaurant in Laois.
Nuala Carroll (30) of 1 The Maisonettes, Quigley Park, Rathdowney pleaded guilty to engaging in threatening or abusive behaviour at Haroon Curry House, Moore Street, Rathdowney on September 24, 2024.
Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said the defendant entered the restaurant and began verbally abusing a worker. He said she was “abusive towards him and told him to f-off”.
“A male that was with her did most of the threatening and abusive behaviour,” said Sgt Kirby.
He told the sitting of Portlaoise District Court that the woman had six previous convictions.
Judge John Brennan said given the level of abuse aimed at the worker at 5.30pm in the day, a victim impact statement should be canvassed in the case.
He noted the plea of guilty and adjourned the case back to Portlaoise District Court on April 14 for a victim impact statement. He granted legal aid to solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick.
